Rapid diagnostic tests (RDTs) are medical diagnostic tests designed to provide quick and accurate results on the spot, often within minutes. These tests are crucial in various healthcare settings, as they enable healthcare professionals to make informed decisions about patient care and treatment. RDTs are particularly useful in emergency situations, where time is of the essence, in areas with limited access to laboratory facilities and for home testing.
Our patented technology uses polymer-modified paper to store and release nanoparticle sensors, opening new possibilies for the rapid identification of pathogens that are undetectable with other RTDs.
Nanoparticle Transfer Biosensors
A decal is a design or image printed on a special paper that can be transferred onto another surface. Nanodecal uses this design to produce a new family of biosensors that overcome current limitations of RTDs. Our patented method allows us to store and transfer nanoparticles that are designed to detect the pathogen Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The nanoparticles are transferred from a paper decal to another substrate, where they bind the pathogen. The nanoparticles that did not find their target are washed away. This leaves a three-dot signal on the receiving substrate that correlates with the levels of bacteria in the sample.
The Nanodecal Advantage
Nanodecal has the cutting-edge technology to develop the next generation of rapid tests. Our nanoparticle-transfer technology is suitable for analyzing unconventional human specimens such as sputum and exhaled breath. It also affords high sensitivities because our nanoparticles target whole cells instead of a single antigen. Our aim is to bring these advancements to the field of precision respiratory diagnostic tools, allowing new possibilities in fast, effective, personalized care.
